I was reading Daniel chapter 10, and God began to show me a few things..... words of encouragement.

Have you ever been given a dream, a vision, a hope.. and it seems like no one stands with you, or believes you. Maybe it's an idea, and they tell you it can't be done.. Maybe it's a hope for a son or daughter that everyone else thinks is a failure... maybe it's a vision for your church, your ministry, your city... and no one steps up to join you to bring it to a reality...

so you stand there alone with your dream, you vision, and what you know is true... Daniel went through this. He was given a word and a vision, and he said.. "this is no lie.. it's real.. I saw this!!!! The ones that were with him.. got scared and RAN!!! And he too was afraid... but he didn't run from it... the Lord himself.. came to him and strengthened him.. sent angels to deliver assurance to him.. He says in chapter 10 that he had no strength left.... (have you ever been there?... find yourself called by God and feel like you just can't go forward? Believing in something but feel like you can't carry that hope anymore)

but then.. He was strengthened in every way.. God's word came to him.. words that were meant just for him from God... God has a word just for you.. what he has spoken to you is yours and no one can take that away! Daniel didn't feel he could speak.. and he needed to speak and share this amazing thing.. so guess what... a hand reached out and touched his lips.. not once but twice!!!!

... reminds me of that old song... while I was praying, somebody touched me.. it was the hand of the Lord....

And then he was picked up in God's strength to stand upon his feet... my favorite part is when Daniel says... " And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened" When God speaks to you... it does not matter anymore where you find yourself. it does not matter if you stand alone... if you have no support, if you feel you are not able to do what you know God wants you to do... When God speaks to you, strength comes.. faith comes and you are able to pick yourself up.. stand up straight and MOVE YOUR FEET.

Read Daniel Chapter 10... allow God to speak to you!

If you don't have a bible handy.. here it is....

1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision. 2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all , till three whole weeks were fulfilled . 4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; 5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked , and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: 6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. 8 Therefore I was left alone , and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. 9 Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground. 10 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent . And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling . 12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand , and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard , and I am come for thy words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. 14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. 15 And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb . 16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake , and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength. 17 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. 18 Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me, 19 And said , O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong , yea, be strong . And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened , and said , Let my lord speak ; for thou hast strengthened me. 20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth , lo, the prince of Grecia shall come . 21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

broken bones were a common thing for us. One Sunday afternoon we had to rush him to the ER. X-Rays showed he had a break... well buddy the Dr says, you have a break.. My son looks at me with sad eyes that are wet from crying and asks "Does this mean we can't go to church tonight?" After a collected "Awww" from a couple of nurses.. I try to hide my "proud momma" look and allow them to see my sympathetic look and say "No, baby we won't be able to go to church tonight"

My so makes a little fist, pulls back his arm and gives a gleeful "Yes!"... at which everyone burst out in laughter

.... same day... Nurses were trying to keep him in conversation as the Dr was putting on his cast...

Nurse:So you homeschool huh? What's your favorite part?

now don't I feel like an exciting homeschool teacher!

One of the greatest things this year was Shawn being here for the holidays.. We didn't do anything elaberate but I hope he had a good time.

after Thanksgiving we had a family tree trimming... was great to have everyone together and Monica & kids here.

Jim put up lights around perimiter of house.. I let Shawn & Carolina take what ever they wanted for their house... it's thier first home and Shawn's first Christmas in 2 years :( so they took lights and wreath and a few other things

Concentrated on Aaralyn and only got gifts for her, but got stockings for everyone else with "practical" things... soda can caps so they don't spill, mouth was, deoderant, guys got car cups wth straws that don't fall out (from Liz's company)  girls got pretty nail files, lotions

Aaralyn made toilet paper roll candles for each household.. and learned to sing this little light of mine

JIM: his main gift was a pic of his mom and dad framed.. we cried in the bedroom together while others were in the livingroom... we miss you mom!  RIP  he also got a pocket knife and I think a shirt

Me: I got a hair dryer & Lap Harp from Dad & Bob.

It was our anniversary on the 17th so Jim got us both phones... they were nice but I wish I could have looked at them... my only problem is the numbers are so tiny I need glasses to make a call   and he likes his but it doesnt take a memory card and he likes to use his memeory card.. but he can use it in mine or in a camera

As November came so did a few ups and downs.... but in the end.. was such a blessing!

1st Jim got sick... he was in so much pain late one evening... and ended up in a heap on the floor so I called an ambulance.... turns out he needed emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder!!!    He was in the hospital a couple of days.  It was sad and hard to see him so frail... and in so much pain.. I'd never seen him like that... He was off of work a few days resting and sleeping a lot and healing.  He was moving so very slow but after a few weeks he was complaining of going stir crazy and wanted to go back to work.

He is now back at work on light duty. Feeding him is a hit and miss as I have no idea what will affect him.  We are slowly finding out little by little.

... the first night he was in the hospital and I was gonna be here alone, Aaralyn (3yrs old) says "Grandma I want to stay wif you to keep you company"  So when it came time to go to bed she did not like the fact that her Pap Pap was not here.  I held her like her pap pap does and she went to sleep.... the next day she tells her mom and dad... "Pap Pap was not here but it was OK cause Grandma was looking at me with her eyes"   ha ha awww.. I think she was tring to say It was ok cause grandma wached over her. :)

As Thanksgiving drew near Jim helped me as much as he could to get the house ready.  About 4 or 5 days before Thanksgiving I was washing a few dishes..and I cracked the top rib on my left side... there was not a lot of pain with it unless I reached with my arm far behind my back which only happened as I had to get in and out of my wheelchair...  but then a few days later I had just gotten out of my chair and had taken a few steps with my walker and tried to move an object that turned out to be heavier than I expected and I cracked the same rib, only this time in the front close to the breast bone... now the pain was a bit more to deal with.. not real real bad if I made slow motions getting in and out of the wheelchair and using the walker... Sleeping was not too bad either with minimal discomfort.... the other thing is I had a bad cold.. so coughing was another problem or if I got a hick-up.  Sometimes it was feeling better and a movement or cough would cause it to move and there I would go again with a little more pain....

My nieces kids spent the night with me and helped do last minute details on the house.. mop, sweep, few accumulated dishes.. even Aaralyn was a help handing me things, helping rince dishes.. and the rest of the family that was coming said not to worry about the dinner.. they picked up the Turkey and cooked the whole meal so I could just rest.. and rest I did...

We gathered in a circle to pray before we ate.. Aaralyn doesnt remember us doing this and was so impressed and touched that when they left to go to her Daddy's side of the family she refused to let them drive off until they come back inside for all of us to pray again.. so we gathered in a circle and prayed for thier time with their other family and safety on the road... as I said "amen"  I looked up and she was in the circle standing so reverently with her eyes closed then she says a hearty "AMEN!" with all her heart and happily left.   I pray with her a lot and we pray together for people... so she understands prayer... and has even seen us all bow our heads at church.. but to see our family united, holding hands and praying all together just blessed her so... may that stay with her all her life!!!

We had a wonderful time... missed and thought of those who could not be with us... and just enjoyed each others company and wonder wonder yummy food.   HOPE YOU ALL HAD A BLESSED THANKSGIVING DAY TOO!

Blog for today 11/17/2013

I don't blog as often as I should.  I don't keep this webpage uptodate for that matter... for this reason I find myself lost  in my own website.  It's kind of like being in a big new home and you just aren't sure which doorway leads to where, or you can't quite remember how to get to, or how to get BACK into.

I wanted to create a new blog section for just basic personal blogging. I didnt have the patience today to figure it out.  I'm sure

Aaralyn came to stay with us last night and will most likely be here a few days with us.  She loves to be here, and we love to have her here.  I hope it will always be that way.  I know I myself loved being at my grandma & grandpa's house.  Now that I'm a grandma I understand now how much they loved having us there.

One of my abuelitas main job in life was raising kids.  She loved it and it showed.  Her kid, her grandkids and great grand kids as far as the line went for her were what gave her purpose in l ife.  It was a calling that she proudly walked in.  A job she gave her all to and a job she was so very good at.  Now that I'm a grandma I remember her in a whole new light.  As a kid and even older I thought of our relationship as all about me, now I see and know how much was about her.

It makes me feel happy, and excited knowing that I produced joy in her life.  She had so very many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren, yet she had a way of making me feel I was the only one, or if not the only one, then at least her favorite... and I do believe each and everyone one of us that were blessed to grow up close to her felt the same.

I have two children, a boy and a girl.  3 years apart.  Jessica the oldest was always a bit more reserved. She was quieter, more shy, easy to teach and I never had very many dramatic episodes with her growing up as far as trouble.

Shawn the  youngest was outgoing, talkative, daring and more of a challange to teach.  He loved company and loved going to visit people even more.  We had many episodes of drama in our life and relationship with him

Two kids so very different personalities and both have my heart for life.  There is no way one is more special to me than the other, neither is favored more than the other.  When we only had one I could not imagine being able to love another child as much as her... yet our love as parents engulfed our son the same.. a true mystery of the heart.

Now I am a grandmother and truely as everyone told me, it is so different than being a parent... the love is just as great and just as strong, but but a whole different "flavor" of love.

At this time there is no plans in the making anytime soon for any more grandkids, but there is that old familiar lingering thought that peeks around each smile and each kiss and each hug... "How could we ever love another grandchild as much as this one?"

If and when that day comes, I know a brand new flavor of love will be added to the "NEOPOLITAN" rainbow flavor of our hearts

Thank you Lord.. for my mom & step dad, my inlaw parents who made room for me and for all of them allowing me to know and feel what it is like to be the joy in someone's life.. but most of all thank you for my children.. for the blessing of having children and now for the great unbelievable joy of having a grandchild to brighten our life.

Several years ago I had a dream.. I knew right away this was not an ordinary dream and I knew right away this dream was from God.   I shared it over and over with freinds and family and it always led to a discussion on what meaning this dream could have.. I gave my thoughts and interpratation and got many thoughts and interpretatations from others.. it seemed like the lessons never seem to stop and something new always emerged in the telling of this dream..  I was asked to be the guest speaker for a week at a youth camp and I broke the dream down and shared a little each day and was so amazed at the reaction of the kids.I knew in my heart I had to write it down and from the beginning I had a desire to write it into a book.  Even if not for the whole world, then at least for my family and freinds.

I was sharing with a sister at the end of a women's meeting and she said to me.. "You know sister, when God gives you an idea or a desire to do something, it is because He trust you to do it."  Wow.. God trusts me... !  So I set off on a mission to get this book written but try as I may, nothing was happenining... every draft I created just had no life to it.

Then one day I thought, I am going to write it down just the way I tell it to people.  I'll write it as if I am writing to a freind and sharing this amazing dream... and it worked!!!  In no time at all I had written all the chapters and my book was done.

I had no idea what came next, again I was not thinking of my book being sold in stores, I was just thinking of a few copies for a few freinds and family.  But I still needed to find out how to make it into an acutual book.  Making copies and having them stapled was just not gonn work, so I searched the internet... I needed to know what I needed to do and how much was it going to cost me!!!

I did a random search on how to publish a book, or step to publishing a book or something like that.  There was a lot of info out there, but I chose a  few publishing companies to contact. Then I looked into Tate Publishing Company.  It said that they were a family based Christian company and they were looking for new Christian writers.  They had a section that said they would take a look at your work and tell you what they thought.

So I sent in my transcript and was perpared to wait for what I asumed would be advice to tell me if and how I should go about getting my book published.  about 4 days later I got a call from a young lady named Ramie!   She told me they loved my story and wanted to offer me a contract!   I had no idea what that meant and Ramie proceeded to tell me what they wanted to do and how far they were willing to go because they truely did think this would make a great book.

Even tho they would be putting a lot of money into my book there was one thing that I would have to do that was stated in the contract and that was to get a publicist.. the cost was so far beyond what I could handle.. but they were still willing to cover that cost if I would just pay the retainer fee... which would be $4ooo.  Again it was much more than I could afford at the moment and told Ramie I jsut wasnt sure if I could do that... Her answer to me was.. "Well Just pray about it"   So I did

The next day an idea hit me.. if I could get 100 sponsors to invest $40 each into my book that would pay for the retainer fee.  So I made a grid of 100 slots at $40 each and asked friends and family.. I sent out emails and, txts and posted on facebook and twitter and began to tell everyone I could and began to get a response right away. I contacted Ramie and told her what I was doing.

My mom was not well and I made plans to go and be with her for about a month.. The day before I left I got a call from Ramie. She had told her boss what I was doing. She said that they were very impressed and said "That's the kind of people we want to work with!"  then she said Tate Publishing is going to cover 1/2 !!!   so now instead of 100 people I only needed 50 investors... and instead of $4000 I just needed $2000

I got enought investors to cover the cost, but as time went on many of the investors for one reason or another were not able to send in the money which meant I had to make it up on my own.  I sent in what I could and made plans to do a few yard sales and bake sales and sell some crafts to bring in the last $700., but it seemed that everytime I turned around there was another finacial hurddle we had to jump.  I lost my SSI income because my husband got a raise and I no longer qualified.. meaning I also no longer could get medicaid.. which meant I had to buy insurance and quickly learned that insurance could cost almost as much as your house payment... !

My book was at the end of the production procerss and as per my contract the balance had to be paid for it to continue.  So I prayed again, knowing that God would not bring it this far to let it stand stagnant here.  Then I remembered a book I read "The Help" and in that story the writer was able to get an advance,  I had no idea if things had changed with publising companies but it would not hurt to ask if I could get an advance just enouth to cover the balance.. I only had $100 to send in and that still left $600.. so I emailed Ramie

Her email back to me was that She and the company wanted to do all they could to help me so they would cover the last remaining $600 and bring the balance to $0   I read the email over and over again... tears flowing and joy overflowing in my heart.

So here we are now.  ready to go into printing, ready to take the next step of this journey of book production and before too long within a month or two... or possibly sooner ANIMAL DREAM will be in stores!  Animal Dream is a story of an amazing journy with some amazing animal friends.... and at the same time , the production of this book has also been an amazing joury with some amazing family and freinds!!

Joshuah 3 & 4

In the Old Testament, the Hebrews had a neat tradition. They would travel around, and whenever God would do something special, they would typically build an altar of stones to remember the place and remember what God had done. Many times the altars marked tough times, battles, lessons learned - - other times the stones marked beautiful times where people learned more about the character of God, such as "Provider".. or as the Faithful Protector of His people.... so writing this blog is like building a rememberance altar... ... I not only share with you just as God's people would pass other "altars" that were in a way a testemony for others to view, but each thing that happens and that I share is like another stone upon this altar.  So please.. view these "stones" and gather some of ur own as God does amazing things in your life!

BOOK IN HAND (just the proof copy)

so what's next? Well I believe it is being assigned a rep, making it available for orders & getting the book trailer ready for TV.. getting it in the Newspaper & radio... then after that it goes in the stores... which stores.. I'm not sure.. big stores like Walmart.. and others usually don't put books from unknown authors... but maybe I'll meet with a local manager and see if they will at least allow me to do a book signing since I'm from this area.. same with HEB u never know!!!

I have seen your struggles and

I have seen your pain

And the tears you have cried

have fallen like the rain

But now is the time

to put on the mind of Christ,

You havn't got time to cry

You gotta stand up and fight

What the enemy has stolen

I now place in our hands

Now is the time,

For you to possess your land

Be strong in the Lord,

And in the power of His might

You havn't got time to cry,

You gotta stand up and fight

So arise and shine, for your light has come

and the glory of the Lord is upon you

Now lift up your sword ye soldier of the light

You havn't got time to cry,

You gotta stand up and fight

There's a world that is dying

and people are in need

You're the only bible that some

will ever read

Through you they will learn

to stand in the night

You havn't got time to cry

You gotta stand up and fight

Once I was at a tent meeting and at the end of the service several of us were standing up at the front in a prayer line...

I had my eyes closed and my hands raised as the music was playing... I was just standing there worshiping (this was when I was able to stand) ...

Then I felt the preacher gently grag my indext finger.. so I waited for him to begin praying for me.. I opened my eyes and there was no preacher.. just a HUGE bug that had landed on my finger and wrapped all of his skinny little legs around it!!!! I instinctivly shook it off with a little bit of a fright and accidently flung it at the face of another un suspecting worshiper... I quickly closed my eyes and went back into worshiping mode so they would not know that I had flung the bug....

I walked into the church, not knowing what to sing

Waiting on the Lord cause I dont know a thing

Is it time for rejoicing and dancing of our feet

Or do you want us worshiping at the mercy seat

Without you I am nothing. Lord please lead me now

without you I can't minister so Lord please show me how

Help me lead your people, in humblness my Fahter

Knowing I'm your vessel but you are the water

You are the water that refreshes every hungry soul

What each person need only you can know

So Lord let your spirit fall now on this place

Rain down your love and mercy. The fullness of your grace

You have called us to be ministers to strengthen one another

But we are all just vessels.. You are the water

I know my friend is hurting and needs for me to pray

I try to find the words.. to know just what to say

Should I just pray.silently. or do you have a word

I know my friend is desprate and needs you O Lord

Let your presence fall and touch this hurting heart

Give me understanding, let me know my part

I wait for you to use me, in humbleness my Father

Knowing I'm your vessel, but you are the water

Sing to me when I can't hear

Tell me a story when my mind's not clear

Draw me a picture when I can't see,

And when I can't walk, dance for me

When the enemy comes in like a flood

I call on His name. I call on the blood

And when my way is dark and I just can't see

He comes and rescues me!

And I don't need to fret, I don't need to fear

All I need to know is that the Lord is here

I lift up my eyes and here comes my help

I don't need to fret. I don't need to fear.

When trouble comes like a raging tide

And my boat is rocked from side to side

And I'm lost out on the open sea

He comes and rescues me!

I didn't think you could use me

just the way I am

I didn't think you would choose me

seeing who I am

But you saw in me, a possibility

You looked beyond what I could see

and now you've chosen me

I'm yours, Lord for what it's worth

You've held me from my birth

On eagles wings I'll soar ... and I'm yours

I am yours, you called me from the womb

Called me out of my own tomb

you're now what I'm living for.. I am yours

I never thought I was Worthy

but you chose this wounded lamb

Didn't think you would find me

in this far distant land

But you left the 99 searching just for me

You looked beyond my failings

and now you've chosen me

Each characteristic trait is well represented by each animal. You are very convincing into leading one to think that chickens could actually be quarrelsome and prideful, or that coyotes could really be paranoid worriers, etc. You brought out each animal’s endearing (and not-so-endearing) qualities through your writing, and I found that to be very effective; for example, many times I found myself quite annoyed at Chicken, but I am now a big fan of Rabbit and Coyote (and their ears!). Furthermore, the vivid and detailed way you described scenes will allow you to take your readers through interesting glimpses of desert panorama and other majestic sights. One of my favorites is the following:

The night sky looked enormous and was filled with a million bright stars. I stood there looking at the beauty and the wonder of it all. The twinkling lights of the night sky gave beauty and life to an otherwise black, vast, empty expanse. Some of the stars were so powerful and bright, others small and faint. They all seemed to demand your attention. You would look at one, and then another would twinkle in a different style or a different color, each one crying out, “Look at me!” Some were a single color of either white, blue, green, or orange, and others shimmered in a rainbow of colors, but each one had its own radiance, its own glory, and its own beauty.

You said that in your dream, Silver City, New Mexico, represented “a place of being lost—a life before we answered the call to accept Jesus into our hearts.” Another important thing that you did was toward the end of your book, you mentioned, “This is, in no shape or form, a reflection on Silver City, New Mexico.” Good call on making that disclaimer! Much as you have reiterated that this book was based on your dream (the kind that happens during sleep; ergo, you have no control over who’s who or what’s what), we want to avoid potentially offending Silver City, (and non-Silver City) New Mexico, residents—and the earlier on we can do this, the better.

Your book will highly appeal to teenagers and adults especially but not isolated to a Christian audience, because of its being very relatable to almost everybody. Each animal characteristic is a quintessential human trait, so each of your readers will be able to associate themselves (or someone they know) with an animal or two (I bet many couples can identify with Rooster and Chicken!). Also, the abruptly broken dream sequence left room for the imagination; and by doing this, you allow the readers to ponder and derive their own conclusions, so the deep thinker will find this book a worthy read. Finally, your easy-to-understand words and laid-back style in writing could account for a younger audience, such as kids in middle school (or even younger). It will also make for a good bedtime storybook to be read by parents to small children. I am sure the cute way Rabbit rubbed his ear on Rooster’s sore back, or the funny way Coyote howled out his words will draw out sighs of admiration and shrieks of delight from kids. I can envision a picture-book adaptation of your story. Why not?

The plot of your manuscript is well written. You were able to describe the major events in your dream, and you were able to connect them to the less important scenes smoothly. You highlighted the most important elements without using too much trivial detail yet still offered ample description that will take your readers to the scenes without missing out anything or feeling cut short. Your plot is effective and engaging. In your dream, your journey started off as smooth-sailing and, like every good story, later on developed obstacles along the way—Chicken being such a pain, Rooster being gullible and weak-willed, and Coyote’s excessive worrying—that served as detours to an otherwise guaranteed trip. Rabbit’s character played a vital role in that he provided protagonist support. You will keep your readers at the edge of their seats during the fork-in-the-road chapter, and your story intensifies as you build your way up a climax that will keep your readers asking, Where is Rabbit? What happened to Rabbit? The readers will then find Rabbit—and suddenly you wake up. No warning. And while the readers were left dazed and wondering, you then masterfully left them with something thought-provoking, as if saying that surely there is more to this dream than meets the eye.

In addition, your manuscript’s plot is detailed and organized. You used a chronological order (things go in order based on time), which is usually the best way to go. I like your style in writing—good paragraphing, easy on the eyes, clever play of words, and a tasteful usage of idioms. You mentioned that you are a songwriter, and the literary artist in you clearly manifests in your writing style.

The dialogue of your manuscript is realistic and engaging. You did not use much dialogue but were able to give your characters their distinct voices and set your story at just the right pace using a blend of dialogues, action tags, and narratives. By using action to break up your dialogues, you did not let them run too long, which made them believable. You did not feed your readers with too much information all at once; rather, you let the story unfold naturally.

See below dialogue which I found to be very good:

“As the three travelers got ready to leave, I took Chicken aside. I felt she needed a little encouragement or a little pep talk. She kept her head low with her eyes looking downward. It made me feel terrible because I did not want her to think that I didn’t like her, or that I was still upset with her. I decided to ask her why she insisted so much on going back to Silver City.

‘It’s all I’ve ever known,’ she said, and then began to tell me that she never truly had a family. Rooster had been the only one who had ever seemed to care enough to stay by her side. This was the first time Chicken had actually opened up to me. She seemed to have finally let her guard down. I was proud of her. I realized that she was afraid of losing Rooster. All this time, she was just trying to hold on to her little family.

‘You know, Chicken, your family has grown. It used to be just you and Rooster, but now we are all family. Things may get tough down the road, but we must work together and stay together because we are family, and family sticks together!’

She looked up at me with her beautiful eyes, and for the first time they sparkled with life and didn’t even look angry.”

That is an example of a dialogue that is well-paced, full of good images, and inspires emotion. And you were able to pull that off despite just a few exchanges of words between characters.

This great work you’ve done to your dialogue is further accentuated with your usage of an inspiring tone. Your approach is friendly and not overtly persuasive. You were able to assert the relevance of your dream to your faith without being pushy or offensive. You artistically gave a detailed account of your dream and what its meaning was, as you believe it, and then you invited your readers to do their own introspection—to examine their own thoughts and feelings—and let them decide how they respond. Because of this, your readers will be excited to share this with family and friends, young and old alike, including those who shy away from “religious legalism.” I want to tell you that I felt your sincerity and desire that through this book, your readers will be inspired to move their feet toward the straight and narrow road that leads to Life; and to your readers who still have not found their “El Paso,” someday they’ll find it too.

It was a pleasure reading Animal Dream. You definitely should pursue writing from hereon. Congratulations on your first book and on becoming a full-fledged writer!
